June 12 - Today in Beatles History
1963
'Please Please Me' LP, 12th week in the Top 10 (UK New Musical Express chart).
The London 'Daily Sketch' reproduces charts of 'Melody Maker' (Britain) and 'Cash Box' (USA).
Acts managed by Brian occupy places 1, 2 and 3 of the New Musical Express chart.
Charity performance at the Grafton Ballroom, Liverpool.
1964
Arrival in Australia. 300,000 people welcome them on Adelaida's streets.
Ringo, with Brian, flies to Australia. Concert at the Centennial Hall, Adelaida, Australia. Jimmy Nicol on drums. Taped for 'Beatles Show', Australian radio programme.
1965
A spokesman of the British government announces the Beatles have been named to the MBE.
'Daily Mirror' headline: 'Beatles, MBE!'.
Morning: Beatles parents receive flowers sent by Brian.
Morning: Brian is interviewed on BBC's Light Programme 'Late Night Extra' by telephone from his Blackpool hotel room.
Later, Brian flies from Blackpool to London and then drives to Weybridge to collect John, who is very late for the press conference.
Lunchtime: press conference at Twickenham Film Studios. Brian attends. Paul affirms that MBE must stand for 'Mister Brian Epstein'.
1968
Recording session cancelled due to George and Ringo's abscenses.
1972
US LP release: 'Some Time In New York City'.
1995
Westwood One radio broadcasts 'Oobu Joobu' Part 5.
